Black Isle Show results

Sorry I've not been on the blog for a while, due to work commitments.  This has had a detrimental effect on my veg with my Leeks all going to seed and my onions not making much more than 13 inch.  That said I had 7 entries at Black Isle where I got 4 firsts and 2 seconds. 1St:- Peas,Stump Carrots,Beetroot & Salad Trug. 2nds for my onions from set and Parsley.  I'm pleased with these results.

  1. Sorry Jon for not commenting earlier, I have been busy myself with the move and a few other things. I am now sat in Corfu so have the time to trawl through the things I missed

Do you have any photos? And what happens to the potato class this year?

  2. Hi Darren, Sorry the camera battry was down so no Black Isle photos. This is the first year since I started showing that I have not been able to enter a potato collection. The cold weather early on then the really hot dry done for my show potatoes with sizes uneven and a lot of scab. I still have some bags from a later planting to lift for a couple of shows at the end of August and the Scottish branch show in September so here's hoping.

  3. hellow john, yes this year has had its ups and downs re to growing veg, but i am glad you managed to get a few items entered and came away with a cards. I have had a big problem with bumble bees this year which i have never had before, there has been absolutly hundreds of them and i could not believe the damaged they have done. I have made a lot of enquieries about it and i was told that the bee that causes the problem is a protected bee and all i can do is hope that they will swarm away in september. Have you got any info that will solve the problem.
